What are my fishy friends listening to? What do you have loaded in your iPod? Who makes your groove bake and your rump shake?

Fishy peeps be made of music. What is coming out of your speakers?

Just returned from a long roadtrip and had my CD player playing: James Brown and his band, Patti Smith's new "Twelve," Mozart, Putomayo's "Gypsy Groove," "Turn my Teeth up!" by Baby Elephant, Toots & the Maytels' "True Love," a friend's homemade techno, my own Jazz picks, and Gogol Bordello's "Super Taranta."

But my favorite music was playing my recorder (improvising) on the beach by the fire as the sun set........

Truer words were never spoken OR sung! :-)

I had the rare pleasure of opening a show for John Lee Hooker when he performed at the Route 66 in Burlingame back in the 90s. We got to hang out with him at the bar for a little while, and I couldn't understand a single word he said! He has a voice like sandpaper and it was a noisy bar.

He sat on a stool and played his guitar that night. I was floored by his stage presence. Tons of blue smoke and soul in that voice of his.

Consistently over the past week it's either been the latest Tiger Army- Regions Beyond, or the latest Paul Van Dyk - In Between, other than that, a lil Placebo, a lil Marley, a lil Floyd.

I heard the Mermen on sunday at the decompression party doing real whale songs along with a theramin as their closing song. It was really great. Yup- real whale songs.

Got a few delay settings in my Logic setup that make guitar pick scrapes on the strings sound like whale calls.

Some serious "whaling" on the guitar.

Ouch, I apologize that was awful...

Oh man, Blues is fish food. Pure undiluted emotion if you play it right.

"Blues isn't about making yourself feel better, it's about making everyone else feel worse"

The whole one man and his guitar against the world thing really appeals to me.

I loved checking out some of the music you offered. My taste as of late most often has to do with my toddler. I have forgotten about my own taste. Most of what I like would go with the bodywork I do, like Deva Premal, whale, water sounds. I will love the Beatles forever! Swing, big band, cultural, Putumayo, The Gypsy Kings. My oldest brother must have played Yellow Submarine when was born for I wondered why it always rang in my head all my life. He was an early teen when I was a toddler so I am sure hippie music of the late 60's had its way with my nervous system. I was raised in Motown. Thank God I have rhythm!!! I was a love child born at the beginning of the X generation from parents who were born around the depression if that tells you anything!!!
